Our summer is already flying by over here, and I am soaking up everything that comes along with these beautiful, sunny days as much as I can. It is so much fun with my now TWO year old, to make new memories, find creative summer activities and explore all that summer has to offer!
July is coming to a close and I can hardly believe it. Last week my son came up to me saying “Make snow! Make snow!” He was playing with his toy plow truck and suddenly remembered our winter sensory activities from months ago. At that time we had filled bins with snow and brought them inside to play with. Why not in July too? In fact, we can call it Christmas in July!
Let’s make some snow!
It is as simple as filling a blender with some ice and pulsing it to snow consistency. Dump the made snow into a child friendly container and be sure to place a towel beneath in case of spills if you are doing it in the house! Even so, it is only water and can be mopped up easily!
Old Toys like new on Christmas Day
I have always implemented regular toy rotations for my son, usually weekly and even more often than that. Toy rotations can help a child feel less overwhelmed and help promote more creativity, as well as excitement in seeing old toys that now feel like new.
Wrap it up!
If you already practice toy rotations, simply wrap up a few toys before the next time and see your child’s excitement as they uncover a seemingly new surprise! Maybe you want to hide a few random toys (find those Amazon boxes!) for a few days and keep the idea in your back pocket for when you’ll need it. Then pull out those boxes for a fun surprise and your kiddos will feel like they are playing with something new!
These ideas work well for toddlers! Here are some more Christmas themed ideas for your July!
