Released in 1993 only for Japan and South Korea, Slap Fight MD was developed by Toaplan and MNM Software (some planning and sound driver for Streets of Rage 2 for the Mega Drive/Genesis (co-developed with Ancient, H.I.C. and Shout! Designworks), A Ressha de Ikou MD, Batman Returns, and did sound programming for the 8-bit versions of Streets of Rage 1 & 2 and The G.G. Shinobi titles). Two games available: a port of Toaplan's 1986 arcade game Slap Fight with the choice to listen to the original soundtrack or remastered music (and an option with speech for getting powerups), and Slap Fight MD with new artstyle, levels, weapons and music composed by Yuzo Koshiro. Players can switch between the games in the options menu, with Normal and Special enabling Slap Fight and Slap Fight MD respectively. Too bad it wasn't released elsewhere since the Mega Drive version is the best home port available.
