CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Hanson Brothers show the audience a violent, hilarious disgrace on the ice.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Paul Newman plays Reggie Dunlop, the coach of a pathetic minor-league American hockey team. His career at a standstill and his marriage in tatters, Dunlop has nothing to lose by taking on a new group of players who are one evolutionary step above Neanderthals. Only when the team begins winning does he decide to get behind these players, and to encourage the rest of the team to play as down-and-dirty as the newcomers. Straight-arrow team member Ned Braden (Michael Ontkean) resents this influx of gonzo talent, preferring to play clean. As the film’s multitude of subplots play themselves out, Dunlop does his best to keep the outraged Braden on the team. Slap Shot is the sort of film for which the “R” rating was invented: Its nonstop barrage of profanity and its raunchy action sequences are of such intensity that the film will probably never be shown intact on commercial television.

I've never seen this movie. Are the cheating bullies who aren't getting penalized the good guys?

Paul Newman said that of all his movies this was his personal favorite.

THE DUDLEYS!
Sloppy game
Didja ever notice that when Reggie comes out and carries on with the ref during the fight scene–hollerin and cussin, he has no "C" or "A" on his jersey. Used to be a 10 minute penalty, if the ref had a point to make.
0:37 was the only dirty one these are clean hits
1:50 lmao

1:51 it always kills me 😂😂😂
This movie is very unrealistic, Paul Newman has all his teeth!!!
Если бы так в реале было их бы уже на куски менты порезали
Fun Fact. At the start of the movie the "Hansons" were brought in to legitimize the hockey stunts as most of the actors couldn't play hockey worth a lick making it difficult to get on ice footage without stunt doubles. Originally the '"Hansons" tried performing their roles in scenes using conventional acting techniques but proved to be so terrible and robotic that the director told them to just start ad libbing certain scenes as if they were real life hockey scenarios and of course the rest is history. Later on Warner Bros. studios was so impressed with the "Hanson Brothers" characters they thought they could market them and to turn them into a pop culture brand and use them in more movies. After Slap Shot WB offered the "Hanson Brothers" a 10 Picture movie deal. The "Hansons" turned down the movie offer to pursue their dreams of being professional hockey players.
Iron League
Gotta be one of the top 5 scenes in any sports movie
As goofy as this movie is, its actually the most accurate hockey movie ever made. It captured that time period pretty much the way it was. Hockey basically turned into a circus sideshow in the 70's, even in the NHL. You can imagine what the minors were like, which is what this movie is about.
Everything was fine until they fought? Lmao.
Everything was fine until they fought? Lmao.
This look like philadelphia flyers in the 80's
Not joking, one of the Hanson brothers was my ref at a hockey game in Minnesota!
Dirty and ugly brothers, but beautiful play.
